Martial Concepts was founded by Jason Winkle as a way to provide an alternative for others to have affordable, local access to the arts and teachings that Sifu Winkle had been fortunate enough to receive from many of the top martial arts instructors in the world.
Due to increasing demands on his time from numerous other professional ventures, Sifu Winkle initiated a partnership with Dwight Deckard to ensure that Sifu Winkle's vision would remain available to further generations of students. Since then, they have been working to redesign the curriculum, update the website and start a membership organization to better serve the student body of Martial Concepts.
As of this rewriting, the main curriculum of martial Concepts consists of three areas:
STREETFIGHTING: Focuses on concepts from Jun Fan Gung Fu and Jeet Kune Do.
STICKFIGHTING: Concepts and training methods from various systems of Kali, Escrima and Silat are covered.
RINGFIGHTING/MMA: Concepts and training methods from Boxing, American Kickboxing, and Muay Thai, Catch Wrestling, Brazilian Jujitsu, Shootfighting, Judo and Hapkido. Equipment training, limited and free-sparring, and conditioning drills are utilized.
