The abaniko is a strike that is delivered with a back-and-forth fanning
motion of your wrist. This strike can be performed on a vertical, diagonal
or a horizontal plane. The abaniko is designed to hit both sides of an
opponent’s head, hand or a combination of the two using quick rotations
of the weapon hand. Keep the tip of your stick pointing upward when
rotating the weapon hand. These strikes should alternate between the back
of your hand facing the target with your elbow pointing downward and the
palm of your hand facing the target with your elbow flared away from your
body at 45 degrees. |
